Capped Bust Half Dime Die Deterioration Model

About This Model

In "Federal Half Dimes 1792-1837," Logan and McCloskey published a set of "Remarriage Charts" (pp. 65-77). Each reverse die that was involved in remarriages got a deterioration chart to help us diagnose the sometimes subtle differences in remarriages of the same die pair. I crafted these charts for ALL obverses and reverses using the remarriage charts and their text (when extant), the descriptions on each (re)marriage's page, my own observations and input from trusted peers. I believe that comprehensive charts may help validate the emission order, and may help to discover new remarriages.
