Capped Bust Dimes - Reverse Letter Cross-Reference

The book "Early United States Dimes 1796 - 1837" by Davis, Logan, Lovejoy, McCloskey, and Subjack is the seminal reference on early dimes. They named the reverse dies for letters of the alphabet, and restarted at "A" for each year. This creates confusion because some reverses are reused in multiple years. For example, 1814-D is the same as 1820-A!

The authors Winston Zack, Louis Scuderi, and Michael Sherrill in their 2015 "Bust Dime Variety Identification Guide" (wisely) fixed this by giving each reverse a unique name.
